I don't know anything about backup, but I know that anything more than one root canal is a root canal too many!

Sorry for your misfortune. :(

Got to agree with you Robert, Mozy looks good and the client is very simple.

I started my first backup (72GB) with them a week ago and it's still going :-)

I intend to break the 120GB mark by the time i'm done.

I think I'm going to test just how unlimited unlimited is :-)

I came across carbonite but based on their $2 looking web site, i got scared off. Not sure i wanted to trust them with my beloved data.

Not too bothered by Mozy's 30 day limit thing, i wonder if it does versioning???

Wow, apparently the online backup service landscape is broad. I'm still working on my first (10.2 GB!) backup on Mozy...I'll let you know how things turn out.

Mozy is a good service - but it does have its drawbacks. For instance, did you know that if you delete a file from your hard drive, then they'll delete the backup copy after 30 days? That means that if you delete something by accident then you only have 30 days to realize your mistake or your backup will be gone too.

Personally, I prefer to use Angel Backup - their service doesn't automatically delete files, so your backups are archived forever. You can check them out at http://www.AngelBackup.com

Well, I tried Mozy, but for some reason it wouldn't work properly on my Vista 64-bit installation even though they said it would. Had to cancel the whole shebang. Went to Carbonite (http://www.carbonite.com) instead, the price is about the same, 49.95 per year, and the software has, so far, worked without a hitch. Highly recommended!
